Gerard Hurst (BAppSc Physio)

Gerard studied Physiotherapy at Sydney University and finished his degree in 1996 after a colourful university career which involved finishing 2 other courses first. He returned to Perth in 1999 to take up a position as the resident physiotherapist at the University of WA Sports Centre. In 2006 Gerard expanded his practise to include Shenton Park.

As of July 2016, Gerard has been involved with the West Australian Ballet.  Initially as the Strength and Conditioning Physio and more recently, as the Head of Dancer Wellbeing since July 2019.  This involves close liaison with the dancers, artistic staff and other physio and massage staff in the management of acute injuries along with injury prevention whether they be in rehearsal or ‘performing/on tour’.

Gerard is an accomplished athlete having competed nationally and overseas in triathlon. His current sporting pursuits are limited to mountain biking and surf club because it allows him to spend more time with his 12 year old daughter and 9 year old son… and because it’s more fun.

Gerard has a special interest and experience in both cycling and dance related injuries.
